Spent the day going through old art when I found this drawing I did of a guy I dated a while ago. I felt kind of sad about it for like a split second, but then I realized that the picture was way cooler than our relationship and that I moved on a long time ago.
I think thats why I love drawing the people I know. The drawings become these strange emotional time capsules.
Colored an old pencil drawing. Red gives everything such extreme undertones.
This semester kind of kicked my butt, but I will interact with you all in a few weeks I swear.
Did some environment concept work based on the book Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell for a class assignment… Neither turned out like I had planned and they dont quite do the book justice, but this was my first time doing anything like this so I guess I can cut myself some slack for once.
These were really interesting to do, but I think I need to get into pure digital painting ….These days Ive been incorporating pencil drawings into Photoshop which has been leaving me on the verge of an aneurism after needless hours and hours of work. (Dealing with the interaction between smooth digital texture and a whole bunch of grain has been really challenging.)
(Also whyyy is color so super hard.)
People tend to tell me that repetition is pointless. I tell them I disagree.
Quick studies for an illustration Im working on. More on that soon!

Its kind of amazing how I can accidentally educate myself with things like this. Lots of things to look out for next time, but definitely time well spent!
